Egyptian President, US Secretary of State Discuss Efforts for Ceasefire in Gaza

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed on Tuesday with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken the joint efforts for ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. During their meeting, the two sides exchanged views on ways to achieve progress in the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, stressing their keenness to advance joint efforts to restore security and stability in the Middle East. The Egyptian President stressed that the time has come to end the war in the Gaza Strip and to promote the language of peace and diplomacy, indicating the danger of the conflict expanding regionally in a way that is difficult to imagine its consequences. He considered the ceasefire in Gaza as the beginning of broader international recognition of the Palestinian state and the implementation of the two-state solution, as this represents a basic guarantee for the stability of the region. In turn, Blinken stressed his country's commitment to calming efforts and reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Source: Qatar News Agency
