The two ministers reviewed the Egyptian efforts to achieve Palestinian reconciliation, by hosting delegations from the Fatah and Hamas movements in Cairo, in connection with the situation in the Gaza Strip, and ways to promote the Palestinian national interest in this delicate circumstance and the dangerous turning point that the Palestinian cause is going through. The two ministers also discussed the dangerous situation in Lebano n in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression, and stressed the great importance of a ceasefire, empowering and supporting all Lebanese state institutions, especially the Lebanese army, and implementing UN Resolution 1701, which allows the deployment of the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon, in addition to the importance of completing the Lebanese state institutions by electing a president for the country with Lebanese consensus and pure Lebanese ownership. Abdul-Ati and Bin Abdul-Rahman discussed the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to continue providing humanitarian, shelter and medical aid to the Lebanese people in light of the difficult circumstances resulting from the displacement of more than 1.2 million Lebanese due to repeated Israeli attacks. In this context, the two ministers agreed on the necessity of preserving Lebanon's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territories, in addition to the necessity of the Israeli army 's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of UN personnel in the UNIFIL force.
