European stocks closed higher Wednesday, as investors awaited the next interest rate cut and the US inflation report due this week.
The European Stoxx 600 index rose 0.6 percent to close at 520.06 points, driven by a 1.1 percent rise in the auto sector.
The German DAX index rose 1 percent, or 191.25 points, to close at 19,257.72 points.
The British FTSE 100 index rose 53.13 points, or 0.65 percent, to close at 8,243.74 points.
The French CAC 40 index rose 38.77 points, or 0.52 percent, to close at 7,560.09 points.
