Dubai, The first batch of the administrative delegation of Bahrain arrived yesterday in the United Arab Emirates to participate in the first GCC Youth Games scheduled to be held from April 16 to May 2. Bahrain is participating with a large delegation consisting of 196 male and female athletes, in addition to the technical and administrative staff. The kingdom will participate in 17 sports: swimming, taekwondo, judo, bicycles, badminton, chess, martial arts, fencing, table tennis, volleyball, football, handball, jiu-jitsu, triathlon, martial arts for people of determination, and bowling. The inaugural edition of the GCC Youth Games has the total of 3,500 young male and female athletes participating from across the GCC countries, competing in 26 different individual and team sports, under the slogan 'Our Gulf is One... Our Youth is Promising.' The Organising Committee of the First GCC Youth Games affirmed the readiness of all sports facilities to host the competitions, and the provision of all requirements a nd equipment in the five host cities, namely Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, and Fujairah, in coordination with the UAE National Olympic Committee, General Sports Authority and Sports Councils. The technical committee approved the schedule of football matches that will be held with the participation of the teams of the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain. They also approved the schedule of matches for volleyball, which is held with the participation of the teams of the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Meanwhile, the handball competitions will witness the participation of all GCC countries' teams. Source: Bahrain News Agency
