Foreign Minister highlights Bahrain’s efforts in combating human trafficking

Manama, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, highlighted the Kingdom's distinguished and comprehensive to protect human rights and counter human trafficking, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. In a statement marking World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, under the theme "Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking," the minister underscored Bahrain's achievements in children's rights and anti-human trafficking efforts. These initiatives have established a comprehensive system for child protection and human dignity, supported by advanced legislation, including Law (4) of 2021 Promulgating the Restorative Justice Law for Children and their Protection from Maltreatment, the Child Law (37) of 2012, and Law (1) of 2008 on Combating Trafficking in Perso ns, in line with the government's programme and the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026). Dr. Al Zayani emphasised that this global occasion coincides with Bahrain's success in maintain its top tier ranking in combating human trafficking, as documented by the United States Department of State's Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report. This ranking, he said, serves as an international testament to the successes of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons (NCCTIP), supported by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, and Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA). Dr. Al Zayani emphasised that Bahrain will continue its achievements in human rights and combating human trafficking through cooperation among legislative, executive, and judicial authorities, media, civil society, and international organisations. This collaboration, aligned with international human rights agreements, focuses on pr otecting vulnerable groups from exploitation, ensuring a secure, just, and dignified future for all, he noted.
