Manama, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasised the importance of the visit made by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, President of the current session of the Arab Summit, to the People's Republic of China. HM the King's official state visit is at the invitation of His Excellency President Xi Jinping, and will also include His Majesty's participation in the opening session of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum held in Beijing. Dr. Al Zayani said that the visit of His Majesty the King to China reflects the depth of relations between the two countries, noting that it coincides with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and China. He added that Bahraini-Chinese relations have witnessed, in recent years, significant developments, with the support of the two leaderships. The minister recounted the Bahraini-Chinese summit held between His Majesty the King and HE the Chinese President in Riyadh in 2022, on the sidelines of t heir participation in the Arab-Chinese summit hosted by Saudi Arabia. He said that the official discussions between His Majesty the King and HE the Chinese President will address strengthening relations and bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, commercial, investment and development fields. He added that the discussions will also touch on expanding cooperation by signing a number of memorandums of understanding and agreements to enhance joint cooperation in various domains. The minister said that His Majesty the King and the Chinese President will also discuss the regional and international developments and challenges and the current status of the war in the Gaza Strip, Arab and international efforts to ceasefire and protect civilians, and the repercussions of the war on the humanitarian conditions of the civilian population.
