New York, Dr. Abdulatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in a ministerial meeting on the situation in Gaza and the two-state solution for achieving just peace in the region. The meeting was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. The meeting included members of the Arab-Islamic Joint Ministerial Committee, comprising Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria, Palestine, Qatar, Turkey, the Arab League, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with participation from the European Union (EU) and Norway. The meeting aimed to coordinate the committee's efforts and activities during the UN General Assembly sessions to garner international support for preventing escalation and stopping the war in Gaza, promoting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and supporting efforts for its recognition and full UN membership. During the meeting, the minister reaffirmed Bahrain's steadfast support for the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He highlighted the consistent Arab position from the 33rd Arab Summit, known as the "Bahrain Summit," which supports the goals and principles of the United Nations aimed at maintaining international peace and security-principles that align with Bahrain's approach to promoting security and stability globally and fostering friendly relations and peaceful coexistence among nations. Al Zayani added that the committee should focus its upcoming communications on the outcomes of the Bahrain Summit and the initiatives adopted there, as they reflect the Arab position on the Palestinian issue and the rights of the Palestinian people. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and Ambassador Jamal Faris Al Ruwei, Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the United Nations i n New York, also attended the meeting.
