German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed regional developments in a phone call on Thursday. The call comes amid concerns of escalating tensions in the region, particularly after the Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria. In a statement, the German Foreign Ministry warned that further regional escalation would not be in anyone's interest and called on all actors in the region to act responsibly and exercise restraint. Earlier this month, Iran accused Israel of carrying out a drone attack on an Iranian embassy building in Damascus, which resulted in casualties. Source: Qatar News Agency
