Amman - Together - Palestinian Minister of Culture Imad Hamdan met with his Jordanian counterpart, Dr. Haifa Al-Najjar, where they discussed ways to enhance cultural cooperation between the two countries and develop joint projects. During the meeting, the two ministers stressed the depth of brotherhood between the Palestinian and Jordanian peoples, and the continuation of cooperation between them. Minister Hamdan also participated in sponsoring the event commemorating the seventy-sixth anniversary of the Nakba, and launching the series of books (Writing Behind the Lines), written by 76 Palestinian male and female writers from Gaza, under the sponsorship of the Palestinian Ministry of Culture. In his speech, Hamdan stressed his thanks to the Jordanian Ministry of Culture for sponsoring this activity, and to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for its continued support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, and praised the role played by the Ministry in strengthening cultural ties between the two count ries. He also extended his deep thanks to the Khaled Shoman Foundation for organizing this event, stressing the importance of preserving Palestinian memory. The minister said: 'We are bringing awareness to a memory that does not die, on the seventy-sixth anniversary of the Nakba, by talking about writing, about the Palestinian narrative, and about our national narrative that brings us together today in Amman. This writing that chronicles and documents the tragedy of a people's life caused by the occupation.' He added: "The solid will of our people is still stubbornly resisting the roots of Jerusalem's olive trees, the height of the Carmel pine, and the waves of our sea brimming with questions about freedom and salvation. Writing in a time of war, in a time of freedom, and in a time of searching for the sun, is the hope through which we penetrate to a bright tomorrow that awaits us." The Minister concluded his speech by emphasizing the unity of the Palestinian and Jordanian peoples, expressing his thanks a nd appreciation to the organizers of the event for their keenness to share the work and integration that expresses the unity of the two brotherly peoples. The event, which was organized by the Khaled Shoman Foundation, was attended by Her Excellency Dr. Haifa Al-Najjar, Jordanian Minister of Culture, Ms. Soha Shoman, President of the Khaled Shoman Foundation, Ms. Lama Hamdan, Director of Darat Al Funun, the writer Fatna Al-Ghurra, and a large number of cultural and artistic figures from Jordan and Palestine.
