Manama, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), chaired the sixth GSA board meeting. His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the GSA, attended the meeting. HH Shaikh Khalid reviewed the GSA's recent work plan, which included various sports initiatives, such as the Khalid bin Hamad Golden Generation Athletics League and the Golden Bank Initiative. The efforts towards upcoming activities, including the Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid bin Hamad Academy for football and the Khalid bin Hamad Gold Generation League, were also discussed, alongside other programmes aimed at advancing sports. HH Shaikh Khalid directed to intensify efforts towards the privatisation of sports facilities and the issuance of regulations governing sports investment. He was briefed on amendments to the model regulations for nation al clubs. The meeting reviewed the progress of the executive committee for the International School Sport Federation (ISF) Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024, set to take place on October 23-31, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. HH Shaikh Khalid was updated on the committee's efforts, led by Ali Isa Eshaqi, and praised their work in preparing for the event. His Highness also briefed on the ongoing maintenance of venues and sports facilities under the GSA's supervision for the event. The event will feature over 5,000 students from more than 70 countries competing in 26 sports. His Highness wished the organisers success in their preparations. Source: Bahrain News Agency
