Manama, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) received the national men's basketball team, who has won the 17th Gulf Men's Basketball Championship for the first time, and the U-15 basketball team for winning and the U-15 Gulf Championship. His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the GSA; His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the BOC; Dr. Abdulrahman Askar, Chief Executive of the GSA; Captain Waleed Al Alawi, former President of the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA); and Mohammed Al Ajmi, Advisor to the President of SCYS and Chairman of the National Teams Committee for Basketball, were present. During the meeting, HH Shaikh Khalid congratulated the players of both teams for their outstanding performances, which led to these victories. HH Shaikh Khalid attributed these sporting achievements to the unwavering support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. HH also commended the continuous support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of SCYS. HH Shaikh Khalid further noted that these victories represent the progress of Bahraini basketball across all levels. He added that the successes are the result of the efforts of the BBA, along with the players' commitment throughout the competitions. HH Shaikh Khalid emphasised that these achievements strengthened Bahrain's position in regional sports and underscored the commitment to fully supporting the national basketball teams.
