HH Shaikh Nasser congratulates HM King, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister on Bahrain’s Olympic achievements

Paris, Bahrain made history at the 33rd Olympic Games, which concluded in Paris on Sunday, August 11th, by securing four medals for the first time since its debut at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympics. The Kingdom clinched two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze, marking a significant milestone in its Olympic journey. Wrestler Ahmed Taj Eddin secured Bahrain's second gold in the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking the Kingdom's fourth Olympic gold overall, after defeating his Georgian opponent in an outstanding performance. This achievement adds to the wrestlers track record and gained Bahraini wrestling its first Olympic medal, after athletics and weightlifting. The final wrestling match and award ceremony were attended by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS); His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of SCYS, Chairman of the General Sports Auth ority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC); His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of GSA and President of Bahrain Combat Sports Council; His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of BOC; along with several members of the official and administrative delegation. This historic achievement is the culmination of the efforts led by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in recent years, led by His Highness Shaikh Nasser, and supported by HH Shaikh Khalid, First Deputy Chairman of SCYS, Chairman of GSA, and President of BOC. Bahrain's achievements at the Paris 2024 Olympics have captured global attention, underscoring the Kingdom's global position in the global sporting arena. On this occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser congrartulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. HH Shaikh Nasser emphasised that this achievement is more than just a sporting victory, but a lso a testament to the determination and perseverance of the people of Bahrain. He noted that this success was the result of the vision and directives of HM King Hamad, which served as an inspiration to raise Bahrain's name in the international sports scene. HH Shaikh Nasser said that Taj Eddin's gold medal victory, along with the accomplishments of all the athletes, is a source of pride for every Bahraini. HH Shaikh Nasser said that the athletes have not only represented themselves but have carried the hopes and ambitions of an entire nation. HH Shaikh Nasser said: "These historic moments will be indelibly etched in our memories and will serve as a source of inspiration to strive for even greater accomplishments in the future." HH Shaikh Nasser said that that there were no limits to Bahrain's ambitions in its pursuit to international success, wishing the Bahraini sports sector further progress and success. HH Shaikh Nasser commended the performance of Bahrain's Olympic team, including administrators, coa ches, and media personnel, who contributed to these honourable results. HH Shaikh Nasser noted that this success was driven by the cooperation and coordination among all sports entities in the Kingdom, the continuous support from the leadership, and the efforts of the administrative delegation and participating sports federations, emphasising the role of the Olympic committee in continuing its journey with determination and steadfastness. On his part, HH Shaikh Khalid congratulated HM King Hamad, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and HH Shaikh Nasser, on Bahrain's historic achievement at the Paris 2024 Olympics. HH Shaikh Khalid expressed his pride in the honourable results achieved by Bahrain's champions in this edition, affirming that this remarkable success was the result of the vision of HM the King, and the unwavering support of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for the development of the sports sector in the Kingdom. HH Shaikh Khalid emphasised that his historic Olympic achievement refl ects the progress that Bahraini sports have made intrnationally, and the reflect progress and prosperity it has achieved. Bahrain's participation in the Paris 2024 Olympics concluded with a historic sporting achievement as the names of Bahrain's champions were inscribed on the Olympic honour roll, including Runner Winfred Yavi (Gold in the Women's 3,000m Steeplechase); Wrestler Ahmed Taj Eddin (Gold in the 97kg category); Runner Salwa Eid (Silver in the Women's 400m); and Weightlifter Gor Minasyan (Bronze in the over 201kg category). Bahrain has secured a total of 8 Olympic medals in its eleven participations, including four golds, three silvers, and one bronze. By the end of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Bahrain has ranked first among Arab nations and 33rd globally out of approximately 204 participating countries.
