Manama, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa met with His Excellency Dr. Abdul Latif Rashid, the President of the Republic of Iraq, today, at Al Sakhir Palace, on the sidelines of the 33rd Arab Summit. His Excellency the Iraqi President expressed appreciation for the invitation extended by His Majesty to participate in the Summit. His Majesty welcomed the Iraqi President and discussed the strong relations and opportunities for developing cooperation between the two countries. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest. His Majesty the King and the Iraqi President expressed their sincere wishes for the success of the Arab Summit and hoped for decisions that would enhance Arab cooperation to face challenges, and serve the interests of the Arab nation and meet the aspirations of its people for development, prosperity, and peace. His Majesty reiterated Bahrain's supportive stance towards all that serves the interest of the Iraqi people, affirming Bahrain's support f or Iraq's unity, sovereignty, prosperity, and progress. The Iraqi President expressed appreciation for the hospitality and warm reception extended by His Majesty, emphasising his country's keenness to develop its relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain for the benefit of both countries. He commended Bahrain's arrangements, distinguished organisation, and significant efforts to ensure the success of the Arab Summit, wishing continued progress and prosperity for Bahrain and its people under the leadership of His Majesty the King.
