Manama, The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has completed maintenance work on the residential building in Al Louzi that caught fire in May. Residents have been notified to return to their apartments after all facilities were deemed safe, following thorough inspections by the General Directorate of Civil Defence. The Ministry thanked residents for their cooperation and prompt evacuation, which allowed maintenance crew to complete their work efficiently. The maintenance included replacing all electrical connections, installing ventilated glass in common areas, providing electrical insulation between floors, and installing surveillance cameras on each floor. Additionally, all apartment connections, smoke detection, and fire-fighting systems were inspected and maintained, as per the General Directorate of Civil Defence's standards. The building was also repainted, and flooring was refurbished. The Ministry highlighted the coordinated efforts of the government team, which includes the Ministry of Interio r, the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, the Electricity and Water Authority, and Eskan Bank, in ensuring the safety and maintenance of residential buildings across the Kingdom. The team inspected 207 buildings, addressing any defective or non-compliant electrical connections, and made repairs at no cost to the residents. These efforts are part of the Ministry's broader precautionary measures to enhance the safety of residents. The Ministry also urged residents to adhere to safety guidelines posted on its official social media accounts, including ensuring the functionality of smoke and heat detectors, avoiding random storage that may block emergency exits, and keeping corridors clear of obstructions.
