Manama, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Interior Minister, received Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), with Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, the Chief of Public Security, in attendance. The Interior Minister emphasised that enhancing community security programmes and initiatives stems from the values and principles of the comprehensive development process of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which has consolidated the status of human rights and oversight institutions and strengthened their role to develop the human rights system in the country. The Minister also noted the support provided by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The Minister praised NIHR's professional performance and its role in promoting human rights values and raising public awareness. He highlighted the institution's efforts through its visits to the Correction and Rehabilitation Ce ntre, meeting with inmates, and reviewing their conditions and the services provided to them. The meeting also discussed cooperation to promote human rights values and principles, along with various related topics, to further develop joint efforts. Source: Bahrain News Agency
