A pre-emptive strike against ISIS was carried out in the Kirkuk Governorate, northern Iraq, the Iraqi Security Media Cell announced Thursday. The cell said, in a press statement, that the Iraqi Air Forces carried out a successful military operation in Wadi al-Shay in Kirkuk using F-16 aircraft. It explained that the forces were able to destroy an armed force belonging to ISIS, consisting of three militants, in addition to targeting and destroying the forces hideouts and tunnels in the same area. It indicated that this operation comes in the context of ongoing efforts to eliminate ISIS cells and secure the liberated areas, while confirming the ability of the Iraqi forces to effectively deal with armed threats.
