- Japanese stocks were mixed at the close of trading Tuesday, with the yen value turning higher amid expectations that the US monetary tightening cycle is nearing an end, and that the Bank of Japan will continue to raise interest rates. The Tokyo Stock Exchange reported that the Nikkei 225 index closed today marginally lower by 0.04 percent, or 14.56 points, to reach 38,686.31 points, while the broader Topix index rose by 0.64 percent, or 17.28 points, to close at 2,733.27 points.
