Spanish Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Albares, met in Madrid, on Monday, with Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi, to discuss launching effective international action to cease the aggression on Gaza, end the humanitarian catastrophe and implement the two-state solution to achieve a just and enduring peace. Both sides discussed the coming steps to step up an international position for recognizing the Palestinian statehood, warning of the spillover of war into the region and the importance of comporting with the UN Security Council resolution 1701 to prevent further escalation in Lebanon. In 2006, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted the resolution 1701, calling on Israel to immediately cease all its offensive operations and withdraw all Israeli forces from South Lebanon.
