Lebanese Army Commander: Lebanon Faces Most Severe Crises, Challenges

Commander of the Lebanese Army General Joseph Aoun considered that Lebanon is facing the most severe crises and challenges, political, financial, and social, in addition to being exposed to daily attacks by the Israeli army, and the accompanying human casualties and material losses. In a speech on the occasion of the Army Day in Lebanon, which falls on Aug. 1 every year, Aoun indicated that the efforts to calm the situation and stop the attacks are still ongoing, leading to a permanent ceasefire. He noted that the military units deployed in the south continue to coordinate with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) within the framework of Resolution 1701, hoping that the border region will regain its calm and its people will enjoy security and stability. The Israeli entity has escalated its air strikes and artillery shelling of towns and villages in southern Lebanon, causing dozens of deaths and injuries and forcing residents to flee these areas amid ongoing Israeli threats to expand the scop e of these attacks.
