Lebanese Parliament Speaker, French Foreign Minister Discuss Developments in Lebanon

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri discussed Monday with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot the developments in Lebanon and the region, in light of the escalation of the Israeli entity's aggression. The Lebanese Parliament Speaker stressed his country's position, which was announced by Najib Mikati, the caretaker Prime Minister, in New York, regarding the presidential call for a ceasefire following the French-American presidential summit, which enjoys broad international support. Berri noted that the Israeli entity is solely responsible for the failure of all efforts aimed at stopping the aggression, praising the cohesion, unity and solidarity of the Lebanese against the Israeli aggression. For his part, the French Minister stressed that the only solution is to implement UN Resolution 1701. The French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot arrived in Lebanon last night, to be the first senior foreign diplomat to visit this country since the intensification of Israeli raids on Lebanon. Earlier Monda y, Najib Mikati, the caretaker Prime Minister of Lebanon, met with Barrot, where the latter stressed the "priority of electing a president of the republic and working to stop armed confrontations." He stressed his country's support for Lebanon and its people at all levels, noting that France is very interested in supporting the army and assisting it in these critical circumstances.
