Libya, UN Hold Discussions on Reconciliation Dossier

Vice President of the Presidential Council of Libya Abdullah Al Lafi met Tuesday with Deputy Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General of the United Nations for Libya Stephanie Khoury to discuss developments in the political landscape, reconciliation dossier and avenues for cooperation with the UN Mission in the field of reconciliation, transitional justice and promoting human rights and freedoms. During the meeting, Al Lafi underscored the importance of ending the current political stalemate and setting in motion the political process without neglecting the economic, security human rights and reconciliation tracks, Libyan information and communication office of the Presidential Council reported. Libya should have held presidential and legislative elections in December 2021, but they had been postponed, indefinitely, due to the standoff between the political parties. Source: Qatar News Agency
