Damascus, Caretaker Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, met Thursday with Barbara Manzi, Regional Director for Arab States of the United Nations Development Coordination Office. During the meeting Minister Mikdad stressed that Syria welcomes working with UN agencies and facilitates their work in a way that serves their mission, reiterating its keenness to deliver all types of aid to its citizens throughout its territory Mikdad pointed out that Syria was a model of economic development before the terrorist war that was imposed on it. There are those who are deliberately prolonging the crisis and obstructing recovery, as the American occupation forces and their agents are committing blatant thefts of Syrian oil and wheat resources, in addition to cut off water to the residents of Hasaka province, the Minister pointed out. Regarding the Palestinian issue, Mikdad underlined the necessity of stopping the war of human extermination carried out by 'Israel' in the occupied Palestinian territories. In turn, Manzi stressed the United Nations' keenness to make additional efforts to meet the growing needs in Syria and the region, and that efforts must focus on which contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people, away from the politicization that some are trying to impose. Manzi said that the practices taking place in Gaza Strip and West Bank have complicated the situation in the region and the efforts of the United Nations there. Source: Syrian Arab News Agency
