Ramallah - Ma'an - The head of the Water Authority, Eng. Mazen Ghoneim, stressed today that the situation in the Gaza Strip, due to the ongoing war and the destruction of the infrastructure, requires providing the necessary support to achieve the necessary response to meet emergency needs. This came during his meeting with the representative of the Austrian government in Palestine, Christoph Sternat, on the occasion of the end of his mission in Palestine. Minister Ghoneim discussed with Sternat the project funded by the Austrian government related to institutional support for the Water Authority and allocated to developing many administrative and technical aspects, pointing out the importance of taking into consideration within the project the priorities and needs that were set based on the listed objectives in order to have a positive impact on implementing the program according to the plan prepared for it. Minister Ghoneim also stressed that the current priority is to preserve the lives of citizens by pro viding humanitarian needs, especially water. He called on the Austrian government and the international community to put pressure on the Israeli side and oblige it to abide by international agreements and respect human rights. For his part, Sternat stressed the importance of supporting humanitarian issues and providing basic services, the most important of which is water, noting the Austrian government's commitment to providing the necessary support and discussing mechanisms that help achieve the necessary response. At the end of the meeting, Minister Ghoneim stressed the importance of continuing cooperation between the Water Authority and Austria, wishing Mr. Christoph success in his new duties.
