Minister of Commerce and Industry Chairs First Session of Qatari-Czech Joint Committee for Economic, Commercial and Technical Cooperation

HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani, and HE Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Jozef Sikela, co-chaired the first session of the Qatari-Czech Joint Committee for Economic, Commercial and Technical Cooperation, which was held in Doha on September 23-24, 2024.

The session was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Transport, Sports and Youth, Public Health, Municipality, Education and Higher Education, Culture, Environment and Climate Change, in addition to the Qatar Free Zones Authority, the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar, Qatar Airways Group, Qatar Development Bank, Qatar Mining Company, and Qatar Chamber.

During the committee's work, aspects of cooperation in various sectors of common interest between the two countries were discussed.

In his opening speech, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani underlined the importance of the committee as a platform to explore opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in various economic, commercial and technical sectors, including trade, investment, transportation, industry, education, science, agriculture, food security, technology, youth and sports, culture, mining, and other areas of common interest.

He added that the Czech Republic is a strategic partner of the State of Qatar, referring to the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030 of the State of Qatar, which aims to enhance sustainable economic diversification in various sectors such as industry, logistics, technology, financial services, agriculture, health services, and education services, calling on Czech companies to explore investment opportunities available in the Qatari market.

His Excellency stressed the need to exert more joint efforts at the public and private sector levels to advance trade and industrial cooperation between the two countries and expand and diversify the size of the investment partnership, by signing new agreements and memoranda of understanding and activating them to serve the common interests of the two countries.

His Excellency also stressed the importance of forming a joint business council between the private sectors of the two countries, to enhance trade exchange, develop economic relations, and hold joint trade exhibitions with the aim of establishing partnerships between the private sectors of both countries and increasing trade exchange.

At the conclusion of the committee's work, the two sides expressed their aspiration to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation at various levels, stressing that the outcomes of this session will contribute to opening new horizons for partnership between the two countries
