The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in partnership with Qatar Charity and the Friends of the Environment Center, launched a training program entitled "Our Planet, Our Responsibility" to discuss the latest developments in environmental issues and review the most important humanitarian and economic solutions at the student level, in order to sustain the planet Earth. The program targets middle school students (boys and girls) and their parents, and aims to enhance environmental awareness among students, develop research and scientific thinking skills, increase projects implemented for the community, and provide environmental solutions. It also aims to provide participants with skills to increase environmental reality, analyze surrounding problems in a scientific manner, and plan environmental activities in the school field, in addition to evaluation mechanisms and impact measurement. Maryam Ali Al Nesf Al-Buainain, Director of Schools and Students Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education an d Higher Education, underlined the Ministry's keenness to participate in this program to work on enhancing the awareness of individuals and the local community of their responsibilities towards protecting the environment in all its forms, by encouraging them to stand on environmental and sustainability issues for a brighter future, noting that each individual has a responsibility and a role in protecting the environment from pollution. She pointed out the Ministry's full readiness to participate in all local and international events related to environmental protection, based on its responsibility and belief in the importance of these events in raising the awareness of societies about the issue of protecting the environment from pollution, and working to spread the culture of sustainability among students and members of the Qatari community. She said that the Ministry has made strenuous and promising efforts in this field and that it is working with its partners and community institutions with an integrated scientific vision to protect the environment and contribute significantly to the process of sustainable development, in which the State of Qatar has succeeded and made great achievements. For his part, Abdulrahman Mohammed Al-Hajri, Director of Programs and Community Development Department at Qatar Charity, stressed the importance of the "Our Planet, Our Responsibility" program in enhancing environmental awareness among students and developing their skills in scientific thinking and research to confront the increasing environmental challenges. He said that the program seeks to provide innovative and sustainable solutions that contribute to protecting the environment and improving the quality of life, expressing his hope that it will have a positive impact on society and motivate participants to assume responsibility towards the planet and its sustainability for future generations. This environmental educational program focuses on the climate change file and will help students understand all environmental e vents from various aspects, in an interesting manner, based on a simplified explanation of environmental concepts in an attractive format to facilitate access and receipt of information by students.
