Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) organized a round table meeting with several companies in the technology sector, with the aim of discussing the most prominent challenges facing the sector and solutions to develop it. Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs and Business Development Saleh bin Majid Al Khulaifi participated in the meeting. The ministry said in a statement that this meeting comes within a series of meetings held with the private sector to explore opinions and discussions and identify challenges and obstacles in several important sectors in the country, including the technology sector, within the framework of its keenness to support these sectors, facilitate procedures, learn about the important global practices, and come up with appropriate solutions that will create a suitable business environment in the State of Qatar. The statement explained that the meeting addressed several topics, including the most prominent challenges that limit the growth of the technology s ector, how to overcome them, effective strategies that can be implemented to attract and retain the best technology talent in Qatar, and the main obstacles that hinder foreign direct investment in the technology sector in Qatar. The meeting also addressed the strategic measures that can be implemented to more attractive to international investors in the field of technology, in addition to introducing measures that the ministry can take to fully support and sustain the technological ecosystem in Qatar. The meeting highlighted the most prominent projects and initiatives launched by the ministry to support and advance the technology sector, as well as several proposals that would support the success of projects and reduce these challenges.
