iEARN-Qatar, which includes a global network of teachers and students, provides a collaborative platform in Arabic and English that helps schools find solutions to global issues, contribute to awareness of the sustainable development goals, as well as provide professional development for teachers.

The agreement was signed by Acting Secretary-General of the Qatar National Committee for Education, Culture, and Science Ali Abdulrazzaq Al Marafi and Executive Director of Reach Out to Asia (ROTA) program of EAA Abdulla Al Abdulla.

The agreement focuses on achieving several results, including developing and building a high-quality electronic version of the trainings of "iEARN-Qatar" project for teachers to integrate project-based learning and global citizenship education into their educational practices, and providing the opportunity to train teachers and coordinators for all schools in the State of Qatar.

The agreement will also support students in the State of Qatar, via online platforms, to conduct projects designed to make a meaningful contribution to the health and well-being of society linked to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and developing knowledge, life skills, and values that will help students grow into active and productive citizens.

Teacher training begins on October 25 and continues until December 21, after which the teacher training program for students will begin, and projects will be completed by the end of March 2024.

In a press statement, Al Marafi said that the agreement aims to train and empower teachers to raise their efficiency in the field of sustainable development. He pointed out that the training includes holding seminars, lectures, and workshops for the targeted stakeholders, and then the teachers train students, transfer knowledge to them, and enable them to establish joint projects for them that contribute to achieving sustainable development.

He indicated that Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science works on spreading awareness and promoting culture locally and internationally in areas related to its mandate.
