Doha: The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) launched the voluntary social work forum at Qatar University's College of Education, as part of MSDF ongoing efforts to enhance voluntary work's role in social sustainable development and to raise awareness about its significance. The forum addressed several key topics related to volunteering, including its role in providing the volunteer with leadership skills and a sense of responsibility, improving social skills, and enhancing social intercommunication, as well as developing volunteering initiatives and stimulating their generation by other social actors, for the sake of improving quality of life and addressing social issues. In this context, Director of the Community Development Department at MSDF Alanoud bint Madhi Al Hajri said that this forum aims to enable all community members to understand their role in serving the community and encourage them to actively participate in volunteering activities. She added that volunteering is not only a mea ns of providing a helping hand but also is a tool for individual development and building a more cohesive and cooperative society. Al Hajri explained that the forum will provide participants with opportunities to learn about best practices in volunteering and community involvement, as well as motivate students to engage in various volunteering activities that enhance cooperation and community participation. She affirmed that MSDF will continue its efforts to organize similar events that encourage a spirit of cooperation and community partnership, especially among the youth, who are the foundation of sustainable development. For her part, director of the leadership and community services department at Qatar University Fatima Al Emadi said that this forum will raise community awareness and encourage university students to engage in voluntary work, to promote a culture of volunteering as a driving force for positive change in society. She added that this forum represents a unique opportunity to share ideas a nd exchange experiences that contribute to developing and deepening the concept of volunteering among individuals and institutions. Al Emadi emphasized that volunteering is not just a noble human act but a fundamental pillar in building advanced societies and an effective means of achieving sustainable development.
