Manama, The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture has called on all sectors in Bahrain that consume groundwater to update their records. This initiative aims to foster effective communication between the ministry and well owners, ensuring they remain informed about relevant laws, ministerial decisions, and administrative guidelines. Jaafar Sami Jawad Al Tajer, Director of Local Agricultural Production at the ministry, emphasised that this step is part of efforts to promote the sustainable management of groundwater, ensuring its availability for future generations and enhancing the Kingdom's water security. He highlighted the importance of community partnership in this process, encouraging stakeholders to update their information by completing the electronic form available on the ministry's website or visiting the Local Agricultural Production Directorate in Hoorat A'ali before November 30, 2024. These updates align with the provisions of Decree-Law (12) of 1980 on regulating the use of groundwat er. Al Tajer further stressed the ministry's commitment to continuing its developmental projects aimed at achieving sustainable development goals in line with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030. These efforts are part of the Kingdom's broader strategy to manage groundwater resources sustainably, strengthen their protection, and preserve them as the sole source of natural freshwater for future generations.
