Bethlehem- Ma'an- Dr. Zuhair Mutlaq, Secretary-General of the National Union of Palestinian Youth, stated that the UN resolution is a victory for Palestinian rights, justice for the Palestinian cause, and the right of the Palestinian Arab people to freedom, independence, liberation from occupation, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. He added that the UN General Assembly resolution, with a majority of 124 members, is an international consensus to condemn the practices of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights. The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine By a majority of 124 members, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution demanding that Israel end its 'illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territory' within 12 months, based on an advisory opinion requested by the General Assembly from the International Court of Justice on the lega l consequences of Israel's policies and practices in Palestine. 124 members voted in favour of the resolution, 14 members opposed it and 43 abstained.
