The National Archives of Qatar (NAQ) held a meeting, on Tuesday, under the chairmanship of the Secretary-General of NAQ, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain, with editors-in-chief and representatives of Qatari newspapers, to discuss the documentation project in press fields, currently being prepared by the Archives. The project primarily aims to collect and save all print and digital copies of Qatari newspapers so as to create database and a browsing tool to ensure protection of historical and critical information from loss, since documentation is a core pillar that would offer an archival and invaluable content on which researchers can count. Such a step is part and parcel of NAQs unwavering efforts to safeguard the documentary heritage of the State of Qatar and document the Qatari newspapers with their diverse stages. NAQ is committed to nurturing the intellectual activity and monitoring Qatar's history, in addition to collecting, saving and overseeing documents, in implementation of the provisions of Law No. 7 of 2023, on documents and archives. Also, it aims to help the public access information, archives and documents through streamlining the use of these historical materials via setting criteria and policies that regulate the management of public and private documents in the State of Qatar.
