Damascus, The areas planned for cotton cultivation for the agricultural season 2023-2024 is about 14,419 hectares, with an expected production of about 43,257 tons, according to the Director of Planning and International Cooperation in the Ministry of Agriculture, Nazik Al-Ali. Al-Ali said that during the last season, 7,175 hectares of planned areas were cultivated with cotton, producing about 17,017 tons, of which 15,866 tons have been marketed so far. Al-Ali pointed out that the purchase price of one kilogram of beloved cotton was set at 10,000 Syrian pounds to encourage farmers to plant all the planned areas of this crop.
