NIHR highlights efforts to combat trafficking in persons

Manama, Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain's distinguished national efforts in combating human trafficking. These efforts are part of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, alongside various relevant ministries and government bodies. In a statement marking the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Al Derazi reaffirmed the NIHR's commitment to monitoring Bahrain's adherence to international agreements and treaties on this issue. He emphasised the necessity of continually developing laws and regulations to keep pace with technological advancements and the ease of communication between traffickers and their victims, particularly children. He also underscored the importance of enhancing the role of families in educating and protecting children from the dangers of human trafficking. Al Derazi further noted that these integrated national efforts reflect Bahrain's positive image and its continuous commitment to human rights and the application of international laws. He said these efforts bolster Bahrain's standing as an active and responsible partner in the international community in combating transnational crimes such as human trafficking.
