Manama, The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) and the Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU was signed by Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, Chairman of the NIHR, and Isa Al Shaiji, Chairman of BJA. Al Derazi underscored the importance of this collaboration, noting the role of BJA as a civil society organisation that represents and safeguards the rights of journalists. He emphasised that the partnership ensures journalists' freedom to fulfil their media responsibilities through the comprehensive development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which upholds the principles of freedom of opinion and expression. On his part, Al Shaiji commended the NIHR for its cooperation and noted that the MoU would further strengthen the partnership between the two entities. The partnership aims to enhance mutual understanding and develop cooperation in human rights, with both parties seeking to promote human rights principles and exchange knowledge . It will also involve joint efforts in preparing reports and studies on human rights, as well as organising relevant educational events and conferences. Source: Bahrain News Agency
