New York, Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Dainah, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, participated in the COP29- International Energy Agency (IEA) High-Level Energy Transition Dialogue. The event was Organised by Azerbaijan and held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York. Dr. Bin Dainah emphasised the shared responsibility of achieving climate security through urgent and ambitious global action to address climate challenges and ensure a fair and inclusive future for all. The minister commended Azerbaijan's role in leading the high-level energy transition dialogue between COP29 and the IEA, noting it as a platform to advance global climate action and energy transition efforts. Dr. Bin Dainah highlighted the potential of developing countries to contribute to the global energy transition, renewable energy, and energy efficiency, despite challenges such as financial resources, infrastructure, and the need to balance economic growth with environmental protection. He called on developed countries to increase funding for developing nations, enhance technology transfer, and assist them in accessing and adopting clean energy, noting the importance of achieving a just energy transition.
