New York, The Sultanate of Oman has expressed deep concern over the illicit proliferation of small and light firearms, stating that this issue poses a serious threat to international peace and security, fuels armed conflicts, and contributes to the growth of terrorism and organised crime. The Oman News Agency (ONA) reported that this stance was conveyed during Oman's speech at the United Nations conference in New York, which reviewed the progress made in implementing the action programme on preventing, combating, and eliminating the illicit trade in small and light firearms. Oman affirmed its full commitment to the action programme, emphasising that achieving its goals requires international cooperation. The primary aim is to maintain security and stability.
