The Palestinian Prisoner Club reported, on Sunday, that the number of prisoners held in the Israeli prisons reached roughly 9,900 until early August 2024, among them 86 females and not less than 250 kids. In a statement, the club explained that this number does not include all detainees from the Gaza Strip, whose number is estimated as thousands, highlighting that the number of administrative detainees incarcerated in the Israeli prisons reaches 3,432. Administrative detention is the incarceration of individuals through an Israeli military order without any indictment for six months and can be extended. Additionally, the unabated detention campaigns being conducted by the Israeli occupation forces are coupled with rising crimes and violations, including intimidation and brutal assaults, in addition to threatening detainees and their families. Early August, the Palestinian Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported that a Palestinian prisoner from Gaza was martyred inside the Israeli prisons af ter he had been interrogated and exposed to severe torture. The Israeli occupation forces have widened their operations in the West Bank, concurrently with the devastating war on Gaza that has been raging since Oct. 7, 2023, including East Jerusalem, which led to 604 martyrs and roughly 5,400 injured, along with increasing arbitrary detentions against the Palestinians.
