Paris 2024 Olympics: Mutaz Barshim Embarks on his Holy Grail for Second Gold Medal on Wednesday

The Qatari Olympic champion and world high jump athlete, Mutaz Barshim, is set to participate in the high jump event, on Wednesday, as part of the athletics competitions at Olympic Games Paris 2024. Barshim has finalized his preparations to compete for his second Olympic gold medal. He has previously won three Olympic medals, namely gold medal in Tokyo 2020, silver in London 2012, and silver in Rio de Janeiro 2016. He confirmed, Tuesday, that his holy grail is always to achieve medals and he currently focuses on winning gold in the high jump event at Olympic Games Paris 2024, urging support for Arab sports talents who always shine on international stages. Barshim emphasized that sports help forge ties among nations and display the capabilities of Arab youth to achieve global milestones. The Qatari runner Abubaker Abdalla will compete, on Wednesday, in the first round of the 800 meters race, facing fierce competition from some of the world's best runners. Abdalla qualified for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 by winning first place in the 800 meters at the World Athletics Championships. He has also previously won the gold medal in the 800 meters at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games. Additionally, the Qatari runner Abderrahman Samba will compete in the 400 meters hurdles semifinals after finishing the qualifying round in Group B with a time of 48.35 seconds, behind Norwegian Karsten Warholm, the gold medalist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, who secured first place with a time of 47.57 seconds, and French athlete Clément Douglass, who finished second with a time of 47.69 seconds.
