As part of Qatar Charity's relief efforts to enhance food security, Qatar Charity (QC) has distributed 1000 food packages to families displaced due to hurricanes and heavy rains in Djibouti, benefiting 7,000 individuals, in an initiative which is aims to meet the essential food needs of the beneficiary families. The distribution of the aid, which contains essential food items, took place in coordination with concerned ministries and authorities (Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Women and Family, Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and a women's union). The aid was distributed in the capital, Djibouti, as well as in several areas in its suburbs. In this context, Hassan Ali technical advisor to Djibouti's Minister of Women and Family, commended the ongoing role of Qatar Charity's office in Djibouti in contributing to enhancing food security and supporting the affected and needy Djiboutian communities. He also praised other initiatives supported by Qatar Charity such as income-generating; water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH); health; and education projects. Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Department at Djibouti's Ministry of Social Affairs and Solidarity Ali Mohamed, thanked the people of Qatar for their continuous support to the Djiboutian community in all times of need. He commended the efforts of Qatar Charity and its swift intervention during emergency situations. Qatar Charity's office in Djibouti has previously implemented several food security projects and emergency interventions, including the distribution of food and non-food aid during Cyclone Sagar, which hit Djibouti in 2019, as well as distributing food items to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees.
