Doha: The State of Qatar has taken part in the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which was held in Russia recently, with the participation of heads of government, experts and specialists from various countries of the world. The State of Qatar was represented during the Forum by a delegation from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs and Business Development, Saleh bin Majid Al Khulaifi. A statement from the Ministry said that the participation comes to highlight the Qatari economy and its leading position at the regional and international levels and introduce the attractive investment environment that the State of Qatar provides to businessmen and investors from various parts of the world, in addition to reviewing the most prominent incentives, features and initiatives that have been launched to support the private sector and enhancing the competitiveness and diversification of the Qatari economy, in line with Qatar National Vision 2 030. On the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs and Business Development at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry held a series of meetings and bilateral meetings with a number of senior figures participating in the forum. During the meetings, prospects for joint cooperation in many fields were discussed, and the incentives, legislation and promising opportunities available in the country aimed at encouraging investors, businessmen and company owners to invest in the State of Qatar were highlighted. The 27th edition of the Forum witnessed the organization of more than 150 dialogue and discussion sessions, as well as exhibitions held by some companies and governments, which witnessed discussions of the economic challenges facing the world and how to find sustainable solutions in light of the current global transformations, and cooperation in the field of international transport, as well as cooperation in the field of artificial in telligence (AI) and digital technology, and finding common approaches to developing education in line with technological development. The Forum also featured holding a number of sessions for the BRICS group in several fields with the aim of enhancing cooperation between the group's countries, especially in the fields of economy, trade, transportation, education, culture and development. It also included some discussion sessions on Russia's relations with a number of countries in the world, in the presence of officials and specialists from those countries. It is noteworthy that the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which began in 1997, is a leading global platform that brings together under its umbrella an elite group of politicians, decision-makers, economic experts, heads of major companies, and representatives of the business sector from all countries of the world, in addition to representatives of academic bodies, the media, and civil society.
