Under the title "Shafallah Center... An Inspiring Journey of Giving", Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial that the State of Qatar is always committed to enhancing the rights of persons with disabilities. This commitment has been reflected through integrated national policies toward persons with disabilities, whether in its permanent constitution, its National Vision 2030, or its national development strategies, starting with the first strategy (2011-2016), passing through the second strategy (2018-2022), and leading to the third national strategy (2024-2030). In this context, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani attended the graduation ceremony of the 2024 batch of members of the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities. His Excellency honored the 43 graduates from the Shafallah Center and handed them their graduation certificates, the newspaper noted. Al-Raya concluded by reaffirming that Qatar has adopted policies and programs that support persons with disabilities, in line with the care and support provided by the wise leadership and the esteemed government for these individuals, ensuring that no one is left behind. Qatar has worked to provide specialized services for persons with disabilities, whether educational, rehabilitative, therapeutic, or psychological, which not only match but also surpass those offered by leading international centers in this field. For its part, The Peninsula newspaper said that protecting environment and supporting sustainable development are at the forefront of Qatars priorities. Qatar has a long-standing commitment to addressing global environmental challenges. The newspaper said in its editorial titled " Sustainable waste management " that in September 2021, Qatars Council of Ministers approved the National Climate Change Plan, a strategic framework reflecting Qatars long-term sustainability ambitions and the urgent need to respond effectively to the climate crisis. An integral part of the Qatar Natio nal Vision 2030 and in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the plan sets out Qatars commitment to tackle climate change by diversifying the economy, building capabilities, and optimizing the use of natural resources, The Peninsula noted. The Qatar National Environment and Climate Change Strategy constitutes a fundamental public policies pillar for preserving the environment for the benefit of current and future generations. As part of these efforts, the Ministry of Municipality has granted several waste management contracts to private sector entities, with the objective of strengthening the involvement of companies in recycling and waste management, the newspaper added. The Peninsula concluded by saying that Qatars commitment to sustainability was evident in its preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, where sustainability was integrated into the tournaments design and delivery, focusing on key areas like infrastructure, environment, social development, and entrepreneurship.
