Qatar’s Acting Charge d’Affaires to Cooperative Guyana: HH the Amir’s Visit Lays Foundation for More Distinguished Relations

Acting Charge d'Affaires in the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Mohammed Ebrahim Al Rumaihi underlined that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Georgetown will lay the foundation for building more distinguished relations between the two countries and upgrade them to the level of partnership in various fields.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency , Al Rumaihi noted that HH the Amir is the first Arab leader to visit the Cooperative Republic of Guyana which is one of the most important countries in the Caribbean. He pointed out that the talks HH the Amir will hold with HE President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali will constitute a pillar for strengthening relations, expanding the horizons of cooperation, and raising them to the level of partnership, especially in trade and economy, and opening a window for Qatari investments in Guyana, to serve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

He indicated that the visit will include the signing of two agreements: an agreement to encourage and protect mutual investments, and an agreement related to economic, commercial, and technical cooperation, in addition to a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the legal fields. He pointed out that the Cooperative Republic of Guyana is eagerly looking forward to promoting relations with the State of Qatar in various fields, and expresses a serious desire to attract Qatari investments in vital sectors, whether in the field of energy, tourism, or commodity exchange, in a way that contributes to supporting the economy and tourism in both countries.

Concluding his statement to QNA, the Acting Charge d'Affaires in the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana emphasized that the opening of embassies for both countries will contribute to strengthening the bilateral relations and accelerating the pace of cooperation. He expected the coming period to see mutual visits between businessmen to explore investment opportunities and business fields available to both sides and to benefit from many incentives, facilities, and advantages offered by the governments of the two countries in these areas.
