QBRI Concludes Its Summer Research Program 8th Edition

Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) concluded the 8th edition of its Summer Research Program, honoring 14 students from Qatar University, Carnegie Mellon University, Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar (WCM-Q), and University of Calgary. The two-month 2024 Summer Research Program provided an intensive and enriching research experience, allowing students to work alongside senior researchers in QBRI's state-of-the-art laboratories, where students participated in research projects covering important areas such as diabetes, cancer, and neurological disorders. In addition to the practical experience students gained in the laboratories, they also benefited from professional development activities and workshops that focused on how to present research data, experimental design mechanisms, writing scientific papers, reproducibility, and open science, a comprehensive approach that contributed to refining students with an integrated educational experience. In this regard, Acti ng Executive Director of QBRI Dr. Omar Albagha emphasized that the continued success of the Summer Research Program reflects the QBRI's commitment to building capacity and attracting the next generation to research fields. He added that equipping students with basic skills and practical experiences contributes to their personal and professional growth, and enhances their knowledge of the wide opportunities for work in the field of biomedical sciences. As a national biomedical and translational research institute, QBRI continues to support the next generation of scientists and researchers through initiatives such as the Summer Research Program, fostering an environment of learning, innovation, and excellence.
