Doha: Qatar University (QU) signed on Monday an agreement bringing together the College of Business and Economics at QU and a number of prominent business schools across the African continent, including: The Business School at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, the University of the Gambia, the University of Ghana Business School, the University of Nairobi in Kenya, and the College of Business and Economics at Addis Ababa University. This agreement aims to catalyze a qualitative leap in business education in Africa through enhancing curriculum development, scientific research, and strategic management. QU President Dr. Omar Al Ansari stated that this agreement, supported by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), marks the beginning of a qualitative journey in cross-border and cross-cultural academic solidarity, serving as a platform to strengthen ties of communication and mutual benefit among our educational institutions. This initiative embodies the spirit of solidarity and underscores the importa nce of academic cooperation in building a dynamic framework for education, improving curricula, and enhancing research capacity. "With this support, we empower faculty members and students to become active contributors to their communities, opening new avenues for continuous collaboration and innovation to address global challenges. The partnership with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for this initiative reinforces alignment towards academic excellence and the development of high-quality education that aligns with global standards." HE Director General of QFFD Khalifa Al Kuwari said: "The Qatar Fund for Development has aimed to enhance the quality of business education in our partner countries through intellectual exchanges, capacity-building initiatives, and strategic collaboration. Our goal is to stimulate economic growth, foster innovation, and empower individuals to realize their full potential by strengthening partnerships with organizations such as the Association of A frica Business Schools (AABS) and international accreditation bodies. This ensures that our efforts are based on excellence and aligned with the best global educational practices." QU's Dean of the College of Business and Economics, Prof. Rana Sobh added, "By bringing together top business schools from across Africa, we are building a foundation for continuous improvement and shared success. This ceremony is not just a formality but a celebration of shared vision and future accomplishments." Ihsan Zakri from AACSB noted, "Today's signing is a testament to the power of international cooperation in advancing the quality of business education worldwide." The deans of colleges of business in African universities expressed their pride in this cooperation to set and develop new standards for business education across the continent, stressing that the agreement is a strategic step towards strengthening educational frameworks and providing students with world-class competencies.
