Russian Defenses Down 45 Ukrainian Drones Launched Over Western Regions of Russia

Russian defenses have shot down 45 Ukrainian drones that were launched over several western regions of Russia. According to a statement from Russia's Defense Ministry, 11 drones were shot down over Moscow Oblast last night, 23 drones were destroyed over Bryansk Oblast, 6 drones over Belgorod Oblast, 3 drones over Kaluga Oblast, and 2 drones over Kursk. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that 4 were shot down over the surrounding Moscow region as they approached the city, adding that no damage or injuries were reported. In a separate statement, Sobyanin mentioned that air defenses later thwarted another attack involving two drones over Podolsk, which were also heading toward Moscow. Regional authorities in Tula Oblast also reported that two Ukrainian drones were shot down over the region during the night. Ukraine has intensified its drone attacks on Russian territories in recent months. Russia began a special military operation in Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.
