Safety requirements at construction worksites highlighted

The Ministry of Works has organized a specialized workshop which focused mainly on safety requirements at construction sites.

The workshop was part of the ministry’s efforts to highlight laws, regulations and procedures related to the implementation of the occupational safety strategy in the ministry’s construction projects.

The event, which was attended by a number of officials in charge of vocational health and safety, shed light on the occupational safety requirements and standards and ways to apply them at work sites.

It highlighted the ministry’s proactive and preventive efforts by intensifying inspection visits, following up on observations on work sites, drawing lessions from occupational accidents that occurred and analysing their their causes, focusing on corrective measures to ensure that they do not recur,

The workshop highlighted the link between occupational safety indicators with other indices, such as the urban development witnessed by the Kingdom of Bahrain and the subsequent increase in construction work sites.

It stressed other labour market indicators related to the level of qualification and training of workers to carry out some specialized work and the role of labour law in the private sector and the regulating decisions in limiting occupational injuries and accidents.
