Damascus, The Indian Embassy in Damascus held a ceremony on Thursday to salute the Indian flag at the embassy headquarters, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of independence of India. The Indian Ambassador in Damascus, Dr. Irshad Ahmed, reviewed the most important stages that India has gone through since independence until today and its transformation from a simple to a powerful country. The National Day is a day to remember the sacrifices of Indian people of all walks of life for achieving independence, the Ambassador added. Ambassador Ahmed extended his greetings to the leadership and people of Syria, expressing his hope for Syria's prosperity and growth. The Ambassador affirmed that the Indian-Syrian relations are deep and strong for centuries, noting his hope for the development and prosperity of bilateral relations. The ceremony included artistic performances presented by the Syrian Yoga Center and the Syrian Organization for the Disabled (AAMAL) . Source: Syrian Arab News Agency
