Doha: The Shura Council has participated in the meeting organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), on Tuesday via video communication technology, as part of the preparation for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) of the United Nations on Climate Change, scheduled to be held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku. The Shura Council was represented at the meeting by HE Khalid bin Ghanem Al Ali, Member of the Shura Council. The meeting discussed a number of key climate-related topics, including expanding financing for nature restoration and protection, increasing the flow of capital to developing countries and indigenous peoples, besides creating a quick means for climate financing through investable nationally determined contributions, and enabling small and medium-sized enterprises around the world to benefit from economic opportunities.
