Manama, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, has asserted that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches great importance to promoting the culture of peaceful coexistence, consolidating the principles of human fraternity, and supporting unified international efforts to uphold the values of human conscience, being the common civilisational denominator for the entire humanity. In a statement marking the International Day of Conscience, which is marked internationally on April 5 every year, Al Musallam extended sincere congratulations to HM King Hamad, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the occasion. Speaker Al Musallam praised the humanitarian initiative adopted by the United Nations following an initiative launched by the late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, highlighting the importance of global cooperation and solidarity in addr essing challenges, eliminating wars and confronting terrorism, as well as rejecting intolerance, hatred and extremism in all their forms and manifestations. He noted that the International Day of Conscience plays a significant role in consolidating global security and peace, supporting sustainable development goals and promoting the human rights system for a secure world characterised by harmony and peaceful solutions to conflicts and disputes. Speaker Al Musallam indicated that HM the King's comprehensive development process is laden with civilisational initiatives with a global dimension, citing the launch of the 'Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration' to promote religious tolerance and freedoms, the establishment of the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, and the launch of the King Hamad Chair for Inter-faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-existence at the University of Sapienza in Italy. He also highlighted the kingdom's launch of numerous international awards in the service of humanity, and hosting of international vital inter-faith conferences, in addition to the effective humanitarian and relief role carried out by the Royal Humanitarian Foundation. He also stressed the keenness of the legislative authority on highlighting the national efforts in promoting the values and principles of peaceful coexistence, human tolerance and world peace, through activating the role of parliamentary diplomacy at the regional and international levels to promote such lofty values and showcase Bahrain's distinguished success stories in this regard.
