HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab took part in a senior officials roundtable on Yemen. The event was held at a joint invitation of the European Union, the Federal Republic of Germany and the United States, on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York. The deliberations included an exchange of views on a possible coordinated approach to the political and military dimensions in Yemen as a threat to regional security. HE Al Hanzab underscored the great importance attached by the State of Qatar to maintaining the 2022 ceasefire agreement in Yemen, and pushing forward for a comprehensive ceasefire. His Excellency stressed the need to resolve the Yemeni crisis, ensure the country's unity and achieve the aspirations of its people, through negotiations between Yemeni parties based on the Gulf Initiative outcomes and relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216.
